The Corsican soul from the terroir to the bottle

Between the azure of the Mediterranean and the mountainous reliefs, the Domaine de Solenzara, which gave its name to the village, seems to hang between the sky and sea. The estate shows off its 12 hectares of vines on a clay-sandy soil, streaked with sandstone and marine rocks. Since 1991, the passionate hands of Fabienne and Émile Lucchini, and their children, too, have shaped these south-facing plots, where the island grape varieties are impregnated with sea spray.

From industry to vines

The history of the estate began in 1835, on untouched lands where the maquis reigned supreme. Following the industrial crash of the Fonderies de Solenzara in 1841, the first vines were not introduced until 1859. More than a century later, in 1991, Fabienne and Émile Lucchini reinvented the estate and oriented it around Corsican grape varieties. This wine renaissance led to the awarding of the prestigious Corsican Porto-Vecchio AOP label and the creation of the Domaine de Solenzara.

Three colours,
three characters

Domaine de Solenzara wines

In the cool shade of the cellar, three distinct barrels of wine ripen. The Red combines the strong character of Niellucciu with the finesse of Sciaccarellu, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache, intertwining touches of tannins and black fruits. The Rosé, dominated by the Sciaccarellu with its evocative name - "crunchy" in Corsican - captures the Mediterranean freshness in a bouquet of red fruits. The White, made from Vermentinu, expresses the limestone minerality in a language that blends citrus fruits and white flowers, carried by a saline tension that recalls the nearby sea.

At the heart of the estate, the winery lovingly transforms the grapes using both ancestral and innovative processes. The manual harvests, carried out at dawn's early light, carefully collect the bunches that will shape future barrels. Transported with care, these grapes are then put in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. For reds, manual crushing delicately releases buried fragrances and colours, while the whites and rosés ferment in the cool to preserve their full aromatic palette.

During its history, the estate has won a series of prestigious awards, including gold medals from the Paris General Agricultural Competition. The Hachette Guide, the Revue des vins de France and Bettane+Desseauve regularly list these bottles among their favourites, in recognition of the authenticity of our meticulous winemaking approach. Over the seasons, the team travels to the major international trade fairs to share their passion, before returning to the intimacy of the estate for our open days, special events where visitors can learn all about the secrets of winemaking, from the first bud to the finished vintage.
